How it works
Premium SMS can have a variety of flows and entry points depending on the application. The following is a description of a simplified flow for a single-item digital content purchase:
- You advertise an original ringtone in an email campaign that includes a short code, keyword and unique number
- Customer sends an SMS text message to your short code with a payment request that includes the keyword and unique number
- Customer got notifies of the charge receives message with access to your content.
- Transaction complete
Subscription purchases are handled in a similar method, with the addition of a recurring charge authorization operation. Full API information and integration details can be found on our Documentation site.
Text based messaging
PSMS billing for two-way messaging services is seamless and almost instantaneous. The return message provides the content the consumer has purchased and the means of billing.
Extensive subscriber reach
PSMS is the most widely supported interface for Thailand operator billing. It can be used for text-based campaigns as well as in-app or web billing, and does not require enriched headers or enhanced data network access.
Preferred over credit card
Research has shown that consumers are less willing to use their credit cards for small payments, but are eager to be billed via premium SMS. With PSMS, there is no possibility of card fraud, as credit/debit cards are not involved.
